We’re very excited to announce the launch of our first WordPress plugin. We had to customise a gallery in WordPress for a client so we decided to put it together for public launch.
Gallery Only replaces the default gallery with clean looking carousel that utilises the Moodular jQuery plugin.
== Description ==
This plugin makes major alterations to the standard WordPress Gallery. It creates a much more attractive gallery which can be controlled in a variety of ways and has a range of transitional effects built in.
You can control the flow of the carousel so that it is either automatic or controlled via an index, next/pre buttons, left and right keys on the keyboard.
The are a range of other tweaks also available.
It is possible to alter the height and width of the gallery area. It is highly recommended that you edit the images you wish to use in the gallery so that they all have the same height. This will give the best effect.
You can also edit the CSS if you wish. The CSS elements that you are able to edit include:
- .go_gallery ul
- .go_gallery li
- .moodular_itemList li
NB this plugin relies on WordPress’s built in version of the jQuery library
== Installation ==
1. Unzip contents then upload ‘gallery_only’ file to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory
2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
3. Go to ‘Settings -> Gallery Only’ and set up the plugin
4. You will then need to insert a gallery in a page or post. The plugin will be automatically applied to that gallery.
You can see a demo of the plugin below which features photographs taken by Ariane Barton:
